Master the Anchor Hitch

The Anchor Hitch is a super secure knot which tightens on itself when load is applied. It is really simple to tie, all you need is two round turns. One over the top of the item you are securing your fender to and the second one on top of the first.

The Anchor hitch will become really tight making it hard to undo after load has been applied, making it a great option if you want to lock your rope tight against a fixed object.

The team at bottom up boats has lots of addition hitches to fix your rope to a fixed object you can check out several of this in our Fender Knot Playlist.

  1. I believe that was a single round turn you did at the beginning, not two. Turn is laying it over, round turn is a turn and another wrap, 2 would be an additional (3rd) wrap. Cool knot bruv, I like the style of this short👍🏻

  2. Easy to remember, easy to visually check if you did it right. Perfect for a boating newbie like me thank you!

  3. Thank you! I found this video searching for the best knot to attach a line to a carabiner (using to hoist a “bear bag” full of food over a tree branch to dangle overnight). This seems to be the best bet for ease + security. If you have any other suggestions, please let me know!
